Fair Use
The Dictionary of Unitarian and Universalist Biography is funded by memberships and donations to the Unitarian Universalist Studies Network. The Unitarian Universalist Studies Network is a mutually supportive collective of academic and independent scholars, lay leaders, religious professionals, and students who aim to cultivate deeper engagement with Unitarian Universalist historical, theological, and ethical knowledge and practices as well as their intersections and interplay.
As part of its mission, the UUSN encourages the Fair Use of the material on the DUUB. Our Fair Use policy allows limited use of copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder for purposes such as criticism, parody, news reporting, research and scholarship, and teaching. Proper citation of the material use is required.
Citation
A citation should include, the Author, Title of the biography, date published and the following “the Dictionary of Unitarian and Universalist Biography, an on-line resource of the Unitarian Universalist Studies Network.”
Example:
Morgan, John C., “Thomas, Abel Charles,” August 25, 2003, Dictionary of Unitarian and Universalist Biography, an on-line resource of the Unitarian Universalist Studies Network.
For use in a display, a fuller description would be appropriate: “The Dictionary of Unitarian and Universalist Biography is an on-line resource of the Unitarian Universalist Studies Network, and is accessed through the Dictionary of Unitarian & Universalist Biography and UU Studies Network websites. The UUSN, which collaborates with other organizations in promoting and preserving our Unitarian Universalist history and heritage, is supported by donations and membership dues. Mailing address: UU Studies Network, c/o Meadville Lombard Theological School, 180 N. Wabash Avenue, Suite 700, Chicago IL 60601.”
